Jai Jai Meher, and keep your powder dry.))

I am a Boomer-vintage longtime Buddhist and follower of Meher Baba. I first recieved Meher Baba’s blessing at His Last Darshan in Poona in 1969. I first contacted the Buddhadharma centuries ago in Central Asia and China, and spent many lives in Chinese Buddhist monasteries atoning for crimes committed when I rode with Genghis Kahn.

I was ‘way into Chinese culture and Chinese Buddhism when Meher Baba shifted me to a life in America for His work. In America I spent many decades trying, and ultimately failing, to connect with Buddhism in its Asian forms, Online I was initially a proponent of American Buddhism, which bombed out as well. Meher Baba appeared to me in a dream and forbade me to return to the Chinese Fo Guang Shan sect, just when I was really getting hot for Taiwanese women in the general case.

So I obeyed my Master, and my mind then shifted back to Him and his Indian community. Since 2010 I visited Meher Baba’s sacred sites and Community in India four times, and was deeply engaged by His last living Mandali Bhau Kalchuri, who was a veiled Mahasiddha. Bhau became to me what Naropa was to Marpa the Translator; on his deathbed he gave me a massive all-purpose lineage transmission, which was the answer to all my failed searches for a Buddhadharma that works for me and other westerners in this life.

Hence this online Dharmakshetra in which I propound a new Buddhist lineage from Meher Baba as Maitreya Buddha, Bhau Kalchuri as Root Guru, and myself as 2nd Patriarch.

Even before Bhau’s transmission, I was a Bodhisattva and Tantric adept by previous attainment in Asia. I believe that Bhau and I had been Siddhas together in south India before I got involved in Buddhism in Central Asia and China. While I was doing that, Bhau went straight to God and wound up in the Avatar’s Circle in this life.

Hi there Mike. Don’t know where exactly to post this, but did you ever see this site? I stumbled on it perchance:
Sweet, slightly eccentric British professor Dr. Tony Page takes on the ‘atma-phobes,’ arguing that the Buddha’s final teaching affirms the existence of the Self. You can read his book /Buddha and God/ as well as tons of other stuff. You might want to add it to your Buddhism links.

Thanks, Kendra. That’s really helpful, and I’ve added the link.

Because my karma is East Asian, and because the East Asian Buddhasangha has omitted this Sutra from its definition of the Mahayana, and from its liturgy, I have not been aware of it.

Zen Buddhism, which is based on the Prajnyaparamita Sutras, is the only East Asian Buddhist lineage that has been actually transmitted to America, and I spent my first five years online in a bitter Dharma war with Zen-inspired nihilists who had dominated the Buddhist and Daoist discussion groups that then existed, insisting that the Buddhia was an atheist, a false view which has dominated the Western academic community.

I wound up being banned by all Buddhist discussion groups then extant for disagreeing with that view, and for refusing to let go of the concept of an American Buddhism. The most important of those groups was the Tricycle BB, which actually crashed and died rather than to let me air my views. Apparently the editors were forced to do that by the followers of the Dalai Lama.

I will read this great Sutra, which is huge good news for me, a number of times, for months on end, and then I will post some comments about it in the blog queue.

Jai Meher Baba, and it’s good to hear from you again dear,
      Mike Pettingill, AKA Vishveshwar Bodhisattva
